Today, I set out to have a nice full day event (as opposed to the mere typical 4 hour events I showcase my art at), however about halfway through, after a decent crowd and lively music had already long been underway, a thunderstorm started rolling in. Even after rearranging the booth set up to be more conducive to protecting the art from wet weather, it was clear this wasn't going to last. My husband and I packed up the booth (no art was damaged!) in the middle of a torrential thunderstorm, complete with frequent lightening and gushing water. My husband joked that, "Hey, at least it amounted to another 4 hour event," and despite cutting out early, we still enjoyed ourselves, talked with potential customers, and enjoyed good food and drink and music. Finally, before leaving I was given a gift certificate to the local art supply store. I believe this means I won the "Angels Among Us" art competition. I snapped a photo of my entry (a recreating of a painting of my dog, Casper, who passed away a couple years ago, just with angel wings added, per the contest rules), under the tent, in the middle of the storm before donating it to the U.S. Animal Law Center, the people putting on the event today.
