More experimentation on this new side to my Organic Mosaics series:
I started using lace as a way to build up an actual, physical texture, as well as establishing a repeating pattern. The purple cameo piece is probably the closest to where I am coming from, with the previous pieces, and especially the Silver and Black Organic Mosaics. I'm still not certain where I am headed, but in the process of researching some of my driving instincts to create these, I have learned that I am drawn to creating these tight patterns, and in some way or another, have been drawing/painting like this almost my whole life, even while pursuing other styles. I also really enjoy incorporating some recognizable shapes, such as the portraiture or the dog imagery, which is loosely based on my cartoons I did in college. My husband and his twin brother celebrated their birthday earlier in August. These are the two paintings I painted for them. My husband is a huge fan of the "Tennant Doctor Who," and his brother is a real life Captain America, serving our country as we speak. Both are larger-than-life men who more than live up to their fictional inpirations.
I finally have started the next phase of my Organic Mosaics series. These are generally cameo inspired, and I am still very much in the exploration stages. I haven't settled yet on what I hope to create, but I'm loving the process already.
This is an acrylic painted portrait I did of the two pups belonging to Jazzy J dog collar designer, Jasmine Lawson of Birmingham. A time lapse video of this project can be found here:
